Being vs. Doing
We are so caught up in the urgency of everything we have to do, and so caught up in our heads and what we think is important, that it is easy to fall into a state of chronic tension, anxiety and perpetual distraction that continually drives our lives, and easily becomes our default mode of operation (autopilot).
While we are blessed to have 24×7 connectivity, which allows us to be in touch with anybody anywhere at any time, ironically, we may be finding that it is more difficult than ever to be in touch with ourselves.
It’s just that despite still having the same 24 hours in a day, we fill up those hours with so much doing that we scarcely have time for being anymore, or even for catching our breath.
No matter how digital the world becomes, we have only moments to live. Yet so much of the time, we are out of touch with the richness of the present moment and with the fact that inhabiting this moment with greater awareness is what shapes the moment that follows.
