Potential

In his book “Frames of Mind” (1983), Harvard Psychologist Howard Gardner wrote that we need to stop asking “How smart is the student?” and start asking “How is the student smart?”.   This new question then presumes everyone is smart, we are just smart in different ways by possessing different strengths.

Our role as leaders (or parents) is to help other people to identify their strengths, encourage to use them more often and extract the maximum benefit from them.

When discussing about potential, consider the following questions:

– What makes this person remarkable?

– What are their talents or gifts?

– What are they able to achieve?
